Static
Neutralizers
InPro Technologies represents a line of industrial
static neutralization equipment manufactured by Ion
Systems Industrial.

The Virtual AC Static Neutralizing System is the most
advanced neutralizing system on the market, offering
long range operation and patented system diagnostics and
performance display. The system consists of a high
efficiency neutralizing bar, a solid-state high voltage
power supply with built-in monitoring circuit, a control
module with various indicators and controls, and a 24VAC
wall transformer. The system simultaneously monitors and
displays neutralizing current and ionizing efficiency,
and will alert the operator when it is time to clean the
bar, or if there is a problem or malfunction.
Virtual AC Neutralizers deliver two to three times more
ions than the majority of conventional static bars,
giving it an extremely long effective range. Typically,
a conventional static bar must be positioned within one
inch of the moving web. Virtual AC bars are effective at
distances 18” - 24” away from the web. Due to this
long-range feature, VAC systems are ideal for:
· Unwinding and rewinding applications where the roll
diameter is changing. The VAC will neutralize an
unwinding web at full diameter all the way down to the
core, without moving the bar.
· Bag machines with automatic wicketers. The long
neutralizing range enables bag machines with automatic
wicketers to run faster, often with fewer static bars.
· Installations where injection molded parts are
transferred from the mold to a hopper or bin. Newly
molded plastic parts are highly charged, causing them to
attract airborne contamination leading to finishing
flaws. Typically, blowers are installed along with a
conventional static bar, in hopes of blowing ions onto
the parts for neutralization. However, blowing air stirs
up dust particles, perpetuating the problem of product
contamination. Due to its long effective range, the
Virtual AC system will keep the parts and the bins
neutralized without the use of air, thereby eliminating
part contamination as well as painful operator shocks.
· Fast moving webs. A single Virtual AC neutralizer can
eliminate static charges from a web at speeds as high at
2000 fpm.
The Virtual AC system (VAC) is available with both
computer and fieldbus interface so that the controls and
diagnostic displays for multi-bar installations can be
consolidated on a single PC or PLC screen. In addition
to providing a graphical overview of a multi-bar system,
you can control the entire system from this screen.
Computerized history files and maintenance logs are
generated in the software that are useful for process
control.
Ion Systems offers a version of the VAC that is approved
for installation in Class I Division 1 and 2, Group D
hazardous areas. |

Static
Measurement
An electrostatic fieldmeter displays static potential in
kilovolts as well as the polarity of the static charge.
The fieldmeter is useful both as a tool to determine the
ideal location of a static neutralizing bar, as well as
to verify proper installation and operation of the bar.
Ion Systems Industrial offers the compact, pocket-sized
Model M770 fieldmeter with a 50kV range.
